Agra Walking Tour Itinerary

03:15 HrsPickup From hotel

You will be picked up at your hotel in Agra at 3:15 pm and proceed to the Agra Fort Army Gate.

Your tour will begin at the historic rail station constructed during the British Raj as a sojourn for colonial tourists visiting Agra. Across the station, in the heart of old Agra, lies the Jama Masjid. This magnificently proportionate mosque was built in 1648 by Shah Jahan’s daughter, Jahanara.

Here, amongst the hustle-bustle of narrow streets and historic buildings, you will pass through Vaidya Ramdutta Gali which is an old lane dedicated to the memory of a traditional medicine practitioner. Vaidya Ramdutta was an Ayurvedic Doctor. Vaidya Ramdutta was his name, Gali means small lane. This doctor used to treat people with the herbal medicines. His family members are still practicing the same. Ayurveda is the combination of two words ‘Ayur’ means ‘age’ & ‘Veda’ means ‘to increase’, so Ayurveda tells how to increase your age with the natural herbal remedies.

After that visit Chimman Lal Poori Wala, a 185-year old local sweet shop. Hitting the road again, the tour explores a local wholesale market where the guide explains the various wares on sale on how Indian markets are so much different from organized retail in most western countries

Your tour will also take you through Chidiyawala Temple, Patal Hanuman Temple, the Mughal Police station and the famous Kinari Bazaar (jeweler’s market). With the end of the walking tour, the ‘real’ fun begins.

Mankameshwar Temple & Spice Market – Mankameshwar Mandir, a temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. You are welcome to enter the temple and see devotees going about prayer regimes. Next, your tour will take you to the Rawatpara Spice market. Bound to sneeze a few times as the aroma fills the air, you can witness heaps of red chilies and pots of Indian pickles.

Sunset View of Taj Mahal

You will then experience a sunset view of the Taj Mahal from across the river.
